The Musical Tussle between American Idol, The Voice and The X-Factor

Wednesday, May 25, 2011 0 comments
Recently, NBC decided to take a chance with the Love Bites. The sitcom is a long-delayed anthology series whose star cast include Becki Newton who is anUgly Betty alum. The sitcom wll be launched on NBC for a nine-week summer run on Thursday of June 2 at 10 p.m. The time slot scheduled for Love Bite is exactly same as that which was allotted for the sitcom a year ago.

The show was expected to make a debut on NBC in September 2010. However, the production of the show suffered some behind-the-scenes changes and the previous NBC leadership also showed lack of enthusiasm because of which the show was pulled out of the schedule and even its premiere was not allowed. Now the new NBC leadership has decided to take a chance with the show however, it is difficult to say that the show will remain on air for second season.

The main reason for the uncertainty about the show is, Becki Newton of Ugly Betty fame has already been roped in for a new CBS pilot. In addition, even Bob Greenblatt, who is the new NBC chief, does not have enough trust in Love Bites to succeed. If he had any trust on the show, he might have allowed the show to be launched in the regular season.

However, NBC has provided a fair time slot for the show that may attain enough audience. Currently, Thursday 10 p.m. slot is fixed for comedy show 30 Rock which is expected to be shifted back to 8:30 p.m. during the summer fall. The chances of Love Bites seems bright because NBC will get a chance to promote the show while taking help of much more successful musical show The Voice and the returning champ of summer season America’s Got Talent.

Meanwhile, The Voice is certainly making its space in the US TV entertainment platform. The competition for predominance between Fox musical show American Idol and NBC’s newly launched The Voice got heated up when Adam Levine, who is a coach and mentor for The Voice contestants commented, "The people that we're not turning our chairs around for could win American Idol."

He commented that after he, and other celebrity mentors Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green were unimpressed with the talent rollout and decided not to press the affirmation button buzzer on their Trek-like seats. The Voice has gained a startling entry in the musical talent show sphere within a period of less than a week.

While responding to the jeer made by Adam Levine against American Idol, one of the three judges of American Idol, Randy Jackson also made an observatory comment over the newly evolving The Voice. He said, "It's a great thing when talent can be simple, honest and revered as opposed to spinning around with gimmicky chairs, maybe Simon Cowell should have people opening doors. Like, 'Knock, knock. Who's singing? I can't see you!'"

Unlike Adam Levine, Randy Jackson poked The Voice in a good fun mood while adding, "Look, none of these other shows could exist without somebody forging the path before them, I'm happy to say that Idol did that and paved the way."

The Judges Bench for American idol also include Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith fame Steven Tyler along with Randy Jackson. Beautiful Liv Tyler was very happy about her father joining the Judges Bench on American Idol. Veteran Aerosmith Steven Tyler is gaining popularity for his peculiar comments which not only remains in good fun mood, but also sound intelligent, humorous, and edgy.

Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and many other musical stars who have even a minute interest in the on-air and off success of the contestants of these musical competitions on TV including American Idol, The Voice, and Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, are concerned about the excessiveness.

Simon Cowell’s X Factor got huge success in Britain UK, and after that, he decided to launch similar musical programs for American TV viewers in US and for Indian TV viewers in India. Indian version of The X Factor is going to be launched on Sony Television in the month of June.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s marriage is at a “breaking point,” the latest issue of Us Weekly is reporting.

Jennifer showed up to the premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last week without her 8-carat diamond engagement ring, wedding band, or husband Marc Anthony.

“They both didn’t wear their rings on purpose,” said a mutual pal of the married couple. “Nothing Jennifer does is without purpose.”

Her best friend, Leah Remini, also can’t stand him Marc. “It if was up to her, Leah would just break them up today,” a pal says.

The pair did, however, have dinner Tuesday at Beverly Hills restaurant Luau, which they left holding hands (pictured below).

Marc’s rep, Blanca Lasalle, refutes all of these rumors, saying, “They are doing great. [These] are fabricated stories. They are together.”
